*** Join us for our next session this Wednesday *** EN: Eyes, Come Back! — an informal exchange with Setareh Shahbazi The conversation will take shape around thoughts on diasporic experiences, migration, adaptation and des-/integration, surveillance, resistance, censorship and an urgent need for creative and artistic loopholes and alternatives on the margin of existing systems. * Setareh Shahbazi compiles and transforms micronarratives through observations, collaborations, visual notes and found photographs. With a playful irreverence to the sanctity of a photograph as a mirror of reality, she drains details out of images found in private collections, public archives, social media and daily newsfeeds. In trying to make sense of their broken narratives, their im-/possible translations into different contexts, temporalities and languages, she is constantly shifting perspectives to allow her observations to come together in a fictional afterlife. Shahbazi studied Scenography and Media Art in Karlsruhe around the turn of the Millennium. In 2003 she moved to Beirut in with a daad research grant to work with the archive of the Arab Image Foundation. She spent the following 10 years living and working between Beirut, Tehran and Berlin, where she has been based since 2013. *** 17:15-18:45 @Mogi, hbk Braunschweig
